We are just an ordinary family. With an extraordinary God! (See God’s Heart for You.)
We had a boy and a girl, biologically, and had never really thought much about the idea of adoption since our previous days of infertility–by then more than ten years behind us. But then our niece became a pen pal with an orphan girl named Vera (in Ukraine) and what started with an acquaintance with just the name of an orphan girl who longed for a family grew into a calling that wouldn’t let go of us. That was over six years ago. We heard about the need, and started asking God what He wanted us to do. Our prayer eventually became, “Lord, we are willing to go adopt Vera or whoever else You show us.”
Well, God led, we went, and she came home with us in March of 2006. She has blossomed as one can only in the nurturing environment of belonging forever in a family who loves her. Adopted at the unlikely age of 13, Vera shares a part of her story in All I Want for Christmas and gives a glimpse into the heart of an orphan, whose dearest wish was to have a family of her own to love her.
This six minute film, dedicated to the children left behind, features an original song written by Vera’s sister that captures the spirit of the longing in their hearts. All they really want at Christmas, or at any other time of year, is a family.
Though it was Vera’s sister, Megan (see The Director’s Heart), who originally had the vision to create All I Want for Christmas, ultimately, it was a collaborative effort by our family and some dear friends; without them and without the Lord’s enabling it would never have been possible.
May God receive all the glory, and may He use All I Want for Christmas to play a role in meeting the needs of the precious fatherless.
You, too, can be a part of bringing hope to lonely hearts by spreading the word about The Little Adoption Movie, All I Want for Christmas. Will you join the effort?
For sake of the souls of the fatherless,
